Problem Statement :  Innovate to increase productivity, manage scale, speed and sustainability in Agriculture to benefit farmers.

Innovation Title :  IOT Based Smart Irrigation, Monitoring and Controlling System.

Summary of the innovation;

This innovation is focussed on conservation of water, to conserve electricity and to reduce human labor. Our innovation has many features like real time soil moisture measuring system for measuring the moisture of soil in order to prevent soil consolidation. We also have automatic valve and
pump operation to reduce the overflow of water. We have smart water flow measuring system for measuring the amount of water flowed. Our innovation will also reduce human labor. We also have soil
and crop health Monitoring system.

Working and features of the innovation:

When the soil is dry the microbit placed in the soil will detect the moisture of soil by a moisture sensor. If the soil is dry the microbit placed in the soil will send a message to the other micro bit which is placed on lego. When the microbit placed in the lego receive message from the microbit placed in the soil that the soil is dry the servo motor placed in the lego will turn and try to sense the red colour to the colour sensor and the colour sensor will send a message to lego brick to move across the field and it will water the crops. When the lego is moving at that time the water pump will start to work and will pump only required water for the crops. After watering the entire field this machine will go back to its starting position and start to charge.

We are trying to convert this machine to solar powered so that the energy used for operations of this system is also reduced. In the future almost all farming systems will be automatic and smart so that this types of machines will change the ordinary face of the farming system and will be filled with modern innovations.

Details of the School

Amrita Vidyalayam, Thalassery, is a senior secondary school situated near Punnol in Thalassery, Kerala. This Amrita Vidyalayam is administered by Mata Amritanandamayi Math, and is affiliated to CBSE.

As a part of the Amrita family, we aim to instill in our students a strong sense of our cultural and spiritual values, while imparting the best in modern scientific education.

Impact / how it helps the Society

*Conserving water in farming field by reducing the amount of water flowed

*Decreasing human labour by implementing a smart system in the farming field.

*Increasing productivity by monitoring the crops.

*Preventing soil consolidation by implementing a real time soil moisture system.

*securing nutritions and minerals of soil

*conserving electricity by implementing solar powered systems.

*Automating processes in planting, treatment and harvesting can reduce resource consumption, human error and overall cost.

*Analyzing production quality and results in correlation to treatment can teach farmers to adjust processes to increase quality of the product.

*Accurately tracking production rates by field over time allows for detailed predicting of future crop yield and value of a farm.

*Remote Monitoring:
Local and commercial farmers can monitor multiple fields in multiple locations around the globe from an internet connection. Decisions can be made in real-time and from anywhere.

*Farming equipment can be monitored and maintained according to production rates, labor effectiveness and failure prediction.
