The Government’s IndiaAI Datasets Platform, a key component of the Rs 10,000-crore IndiaAI mission, is expected to go live within the next 3-4 months, according to the National eGovernance Division (NeGD), the platform’s technology provider.
What is the IndiaAI Datasets Platform?
The IndiaAI Datasets Platform is designed to transform access to non-personal data, empowering Indian startups and researchers to accelerate AI innovation. It will create a unified platform that simplifies the discovery, access, and use of high-quality, AI-ready datasets, enabling smoother and more effective AI research and development.
Kumarum, a representative from NeGD, acknowledged that building a large repository of datasets and models, similar to global platforms like HuggingFace, will take time. However, the initial framework of the platform is expected to be operational by the end of January. He also highlighted the potential of generative AI in government applications, such as drafting proposals or schemes based on past documents, boosting office productivity, and enabling easier comparisons of state policies.
AI trained on regulations related to buildings, roads, irrigation systems, and more could also help automate parts of the verification and approval process, further streamlining government operations.
