Bonayu wins national startup award in Life sciences category

BonAyu has developed topical thin films as an alternative to traditional ointments.

BonAyu Lifesciences won the national startup award 2020 in the healthcare category. They won it in the Life Sciences theme under Health category.

There were around 249 contestants in the healthcare category and 29 contestants in the life sciences theme. Among the other themes considered for the award were; Access to healthcare, medical devices and diagnostics.

BonAyu has developed a patented manufacturing platform for topical thin films as an alternative to traditional ointments, creams, gels and toothpastes. Oral dispersible films (ODF) are among the most successful of these, because of how much easier they are to make, and because they’re user-friendy. It’s extremely convenient for patients with conditions like dysphagia, repeated emesis, motion sickness and mental disorders.

The BonAyu’s technology overcomes several manufacturing process limitations of current films, using a patented manufacturing process. The startup’s film is more stable and flexible, is made from very cost-effective polymers, and can deliver a variety of drug dosages or other substances like caffeine, and vitamins.
