Haryana’s performance in the 2025 NIRF Engineering rankings reflects the state’s steady but modest presence in the national technical education landscape.
While none of its institutions managed to break into the coveted top 100 nationally, several universities and colleges continue to hold their ground in the middle bands, underlining the role of both government-funded and private initiatives in sustaining engineering education in the region.
The strongest cluster of institutions from Haryana appeared in the 101–150 rank band. Here, five names stood out. The National Institute of Food Technology, Entrepreneurship and Management (NIFTEM) in Sonipat led the state’s showing, reaffirming its niche position in food and allied engineering disciplines. Alongside it were Amity University Haryana in Gurugram and the NorthCap University, also in Gurugram, both of which have consolidated reputations in private engineering education. Manav Rachna International Institute of Research and Studies (MRIIRS), Faridabad, also figured in this group, highlighting its consistent attempts at industry integration. Rounding out this tier was Maharishi Markandeshwar (Deemed to be University), Mullana, Ambala, which continues to be one of the older private institutions maintaining a presence in the rankings.
In the next band, covering 151–200, two government institutions ensured Haryana’s representation. J. C. Bose University of Science and Technology, YMCA, Faridabad, carried forward its legacy of applied engineering disciplines, while Guru Jambheshwar University of Science and Technology, Hisar, also featured, providing a balance between traditional and emerging branches of engineering.
Further depth was visible in the 201–300 band, where a mix of state universities and private colleges filled the ranks. Maharshi Dayanand University, Rohtak, featured here, alongside Kurukshetra’s engineering institutions such as the University Institute of Engineering and Technology and the Technology Education & Research Institute. Several private players added to the tally, including Lingaya’s Vidyapeeth in Faridabad, Starex University in Gurugram, the World College of Technology and Management in Gurugram, B. M. Institute of Engineering & Technology in Sonipat, and the DCR University of Science and Technology (DCRUST) at Murthal. Together, they painted a picture of diversity across geographies and ownership models within the state.
