NIRF 2025 rankings: Andhra Pradesh engineering colleges performance

Andhra Pradesh marked a strong presence with four institutions in the national Top 100.

In the 2025 NIRF Engineering rankings, Andhra Pradesh marked a strong presence with four institutions in the national Top 100 — a clear sign of the state’s growing engineering education footprint.

Leading the state contingent, Koneru Lakshmaiah Education Foundation University (KL University), Vaddeswaram, stood at Rank 35, maintaining its position as the highest-ranked private engineering university from Andhra Pradesh. Alongside it, the prestigious Andhra University College of Engineering (Autonomous), Visakhapatnam, secured Rank 88, reaffirming its legacy as a premier state-run institution with a long history of excellence.

Adding to the tally, Vignan’s Foundation for Science, Technology and Research (Deemed University), Guntur, made a mark at Rank 80, highlighting its growing research output and industry interface. The fourth in the elite list was Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University (JNTU), Anantapur, which entered the Top 100 at Rank 94, underscoring the continuing role of the JNTU system in Andhra Pradesh’s higher education map.

Beyond the top 100, the state continued to demonstrate breadth. In the 101–150 band, Gandhi Institute of Technology and Management (GITAM), Visakhapatnam and JNTU Kakinada featured prominently. The 151–200 range saw Velagapudi Ramakrishna Siddhartha Engineering College, Vijayawada maintain its place.

In the 201–300 bracket, Andhra Pradesh had a wide spread of institutions including Aditya Institute of Technology and Management (Tekkali), Aditya University (Surampalem), GMR Institute of Technology (Rajam), Godavari Institute of Engineering & Technology (Rajahmundry), Madanapalle Institute of Technology & Science (Madanapalle), Prasad V. Potluri Siddhartha Institute of Technology (Vijayawada), QIS College of Engineering & Technology (Ongole), Rajeev Gandhi Memorial College of Engineering & Technology (Nandyal), Sri Venkateswara College of Engineering and Technology (Chittoor), Sri Venkateswara University (Tirupati), and Vignan’s Institute of Information Technology (Visakhapatnam).

Together, these institutions reflect Andhra Pradesh’s engineering education structure: four nationally visible flagbearers in the Top 100, a solid set of mid-ranked performers in the 101–200 bracket, and a broad base of colleges serving regional and state-level needs in the 201–300 range.
