Bengaluru: Bengalureans now track suburban trains within the city using a mobile app. RailJini, a multilingual app, not only tells the exact train times, it will also provide information on delays and it can keep your close ones informed about your location.
Though Bengaluru has a strong bus network in the city and a Metro network, its suburban train network is under utilised and not appreciated enough. There has been a strong citizen movement in the city demanding a robust suburban rail network and lack of knowledge about train timings and delays often demotivates people from switching to suburban railways.
RailJini, developed by Mobijini, and is a brainchild of three friends Rakesh Turgundi, Suhas Narayanamurthy and RJ Pradeepa.
The app includes features like crowd-sourced feedback and updates where people can post all trains-related inputs, real-time information where one can know in how many minutes the train will arrive at the station and a virtual chat room for train-related queries.
